Annual Conference

The BAA's flagship event is its Annual Conference which provides the opportunity for delegates to present their current research, develop their academic network, and an opportunity for the professional bodies and publishers to meet with academics and promote dialogue between them.

The 2008 Annual Conference will take place Tuesday 1 to Thursday 3 April at the Paramount Imperial Hotel, Blackpool, which is located on the North Promenade. Blackpool has long been known as the fun and adventure capital of the UK and attractions include The Tower and Tower World, Pleasure Beach, The Grand Theatre – National Theatre of Variety, Tussauds’ Waxworks, the Golden Mile, and the Winter Gardens. Blackpool is also a great base to discover the region with 30 miles of stunning coastline, and the stunning lake district being less than an hour’s drive away.

Full details of the event can be found by following the links on the left hand side of this page.

We gratefully acknowledge sponsorship from the AIA, ACCA, CIPFA and ICAS. This sponsorship allows us to raise significantly the standard of service we offer and the BAA is proud of these links. We are also pleased to acknowledge that the sponsorship of the BAA Doctoral Colloquium that immediately precedes the Conference is provided by the ICAEW.

Please note that attendance at this event may contribute delegates meeting their CPD requirements. It is recommended that delegates refer to the appropriate professional bodies CPD policies.

The BAA is able to offer a limited number of bursaries of £100 towards the registration fee of registered full-time, non-salaried PhD/MPhil students. Anyone wishing to apply for a bursary should submit with their registration form a letter from their supervisor confirming that the department supports the student’s attendance at the conference and that the applicant is a full-time, non-salaried, registered PhD/MPhil student. The number of bursaries available is limited, so applicants are encouraged to apply early.

Throughout the conference there will be a number of publishers and academic-related organisations exhibiting their material. Anyone interested in exhibiting should contact the Administrator (see below for details).
